SOUND HOSPITALITY ANNOUNCES CHANGES AT HOLIDAY INN IN COLUMBUS, OHIO
Sound Hospitality annouces the completion of a multi-million dollar construction project in downtown Columbus. The newly named Holiday Inn Columbus Downtown Capitol Square will include the new Capitol Ballroom, new indoor swimming pool and 240 renovated guest rooms as well as a new management team.
/Ohio News Articles/ - Columbus, OH, August 23, 2008 - Sound Hospitality announced today the official renaming of the Holiday Inn Hotel in Downtown Columbus Ohio. The hotel will now be known as the Holiday Inn Columbus Downtown Capitol Square and will reflect not only the hotel's location just blocks from the Capitol Building but also the long history of the hotel itself, in downtown Columbus. The renaming marks the completion of a multi-million dollar construction project that has taken two years and resulted in the new construction Capitol Ballroom as well as a new indoor pool and fitness center and significantly renovated Town Street Bar and Grill. The hotel now boasts more than 6000 square feet of flexible meeting space, 240 upgraded guest rooms, newly remodeled lobby and full service restaurant and lounge.
To ensure the successful re-launch of the Holiday Inn Downtown Columbus Capitol Square, Sound Hospitality is also pleased to announce recent additions to the management team of three longtime Columbus Area Hospitality Professionals.
Sandy Jervis brings more than 11 years of hospitality experience to her new position as Catering Sales Manager. Sandy has enjoyed a successful career in Columbus in a variety of positions with the Hyatt Place Worthington, Fort Rapids Indoor Water park Resort, the Amerisuites in Dublin and Holiday Inn East in Columbus. Sandy will be the primary contact for meetings, social functions, weddings and professional development events.
Robin Highfield brings 20 years of experience to her new position as Director of Sales. Robin has enjoyed a successful career encompassing leadership roles with the Radisson Hotel Columbus-Worthington, the Hamilton Plaza Hotel, Deer Creek Resort and Conference Center and the Crowne Plaza Hotel as well as being a past president of the Buckeye chapter of HSMAI and the chairperson of the Downtown Columbus Council. Robin will be working closely with Experience Columbus, and all Key accounts in the downtown Columbus area.
Doug Pollock brings years of experience working with the Central Ohio community to his new appointment as General Manager. Doug has more than 20 years experience in the Hospitality Industry including positions such as Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing for CWB Property Management in Dublin Ohio, General Manager of the Residence Inn Southeast Columbus on Hamilton Avenue, Director of Sales for the Hyatt Place Hotel in Worthington and General Manager of the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Dayton South in Dayton Ohio. Pollock and his wife, Susan, are actively involved in the community and with youth organizations such as The Ohio FFA, 4H and Scouting and look forward to continuing to be long-term, involved residents of the area.
"Over the years, Doug has firmly established himself within the local community and was the ideal candidate for general manager of the Holiday Inn Downtown Columbus Capitol Square. His extensive background in sales as well as operations will help lead the Hotel to a more prominent role in the downtown community," said Howell Hepner, Vice President of Operations, Sound Hospitality. "We are just finishing a two year renovation project that includes building a brand new ballroom, indoor pool and extensive fitness center. With his sales and marketing background and his ties to the local community, Doug seemed to be the perfect fit."
Pollock attended the Ohio State University and now resides in Jamestown Ohio with his wife and family.
